Very sad news hit the world of Professional Wrestling yesterday afternoon: William Ansor, known to wrestling fans as “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel, a staple of Jim Crockett Promotions during the mid-to-late-80s, passed away at the young age of 53. The day before he was discovered deceased, Landle was involved in a car crash and, reportedly, took himself to the hospital where he was later released and returned to his home in Chilhowie, Virginia. His wife found his body the next day.
Landel was set to capture the NWA World Heavyweight Championship from “Nature Boy” Ric Flair back in 1985 but left JCP after a falling out with management. He did defeat Terry Taylor that year to capture the NWA National Heavyweight Championship at Starrcade ’85.
Landel would return to the NWA and battle Flair in a “Battle of the Nature Boys” before the storyline was dropped after Landel had another falling out with management. He would then become a staple in Jim Cornette’s Smoky Mountain Wrestling, where he helped set an attendance record at the Knoxville Coliseum by facing “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels.
Landel would jump to the WWF after SMW’s folding but would suffer a brutal tear in his right quadricep that kept him out of action for six months shortly after his debut.
Landel was a very recognizable figure in the world of Professional Wrestling and his loss is deeply felt. Another one gone too soon. Rest in Peace, “Nature Boy.”

Some early morning news from the folks at The Big Event:
First thing that immediately stands out is Piper’s $150 deal that includes 4 autographs, a photo op, and a kilt. This is a bit similar to the deal they offered for Ric Flair last Big Event – they made robes which looked like this:

So it seems like the “Ninth Wonder of the World” will be a busy gal through the end of the year. She made an appearance at EternalCon just last week and is now booked to appear at the Legends of the Ring fan fest in October and the Big Event in November. It appears mid-to-late-2015 will be the time to get your Chyna memorabilia signed!
As noted earlier, the good folks at Legends of the Ring have begun to sell VIP meet and greet tickets and they’re nearly all sold out:
I assume those five tickets will sell very quickly, if they haven’t already. Only 100 were made available, so this truly a VIP ticket. Hopefully you snatched up that deal!
If you did’t…fear not! The Big Event has released pricing info for Chyna’s appearance at their convention:
$30 combo for Chyna is $10 LESS than LOTR’s VIP ticket. Interesting! And it doesn’t appear to be limited to a pre-determined amount of people so this seems like the best deal available.
I met Chyna last week and she was VERY nice so I recommend you crazies go out and meet her at either event!

Just wanted to pass off this important piece of information regarding Chyna’s appearance at LOTR XXI:
I highly recommend pre-ordering that combo deal tomorrow if you are definitely going to LOTR XXI and are interested in meeting Chyna. She was charging $30 for just an autograph at Eternal Con and another $20 if you wanted to pose for a picture so this is definitely a good deal.

I know Rose was scheduled for the last Big Event but I don’t recall seeing him there. Either way, I’m definitely hoping to catch Charlie Hustle this time around!

So it appears this fall will unofficially be known as the Chyna Tr-State Area tour. It was just announced – literally minutes ago – that “The Ninth Wonder of the World” would be appearing at LOTR XXI. And then the Big Event announced this:
You’ll now have TWO chances to meet Chyna – October 3rd at LOTR XXI and November 14th at Big Event IX. Make sure you do!
