We made it! 2016 is just *hours* away from going away forever and ever. This year seemed particularly bad, didn’t it? We lost a ton of iconic sports figures, entertainers, and other important historical figures. We also saw one of the more contentious presidential elections of all-time. I, for one, am glad to see 2016 go.
But, I must say, 2016 was a great year for me when it came to the autograph hobby. I met a ton of wrestlers, many first time meets, and scored a ton of excellent autographs and photo ops.
I’ve recapped my entire year, month by month. You can scroll down the homepage and read back if you’d like.
Now that that’s done with, I thought I would cap this year by giving out my personal Year End Awards.
But, before I do, I just wanted to thank my wonderful girlfriend. Jenna has been with me for nearly every single convention and/or show I’ve gone to in 2016. She’s taken greats photos, held my stuff, and put up with my crap. She’s been wonderful and I could not do this hobby without her. Love you, babe!
So, let’s get to it:
Favorite Meet
Who was my favorite person to meet in 2016? Drumroll please…
Meeting Bruno Sammartino was truly remarkable. We’re talking about one of the greatest wrestlers of all-time and he’s a perfect gentlemen. The very definition of class.
Nicest Wrestler
Cody Rhodes was a class act and bought pizza for everyone at an Evolve show I attended. Great guy.
Favorite Solo Photo Op
Easy choice. Sting in full gear and face paint? This wasn’t even close.
Favorite Tag Team Photo Op
This was almost perfect – it’s missing Bob Holly – but still one of my favorites.
Favorite Autograph
These autographs were obtained at Legends of the Ring XXII, with the exception of Flair’s (obtained at NYCC). Every member of the WWE Hall of Fame Four Horsemen signed this program and it’s truly one of my favorite pieces ever.
Best Convention
The Big Event XII! I was in and out, got a ton of great names, and had a blast.
Best Pre-Show Meet & Greet
This was a great pre-show meet and greet. I met Ryback, Santino, Bro-Mans, Katie Lea Burchill, & Sonjay Dutt. I was in and out, got a ton of autographs, and great photo ops.
